John wrote of Jesus Who is the all-seeing Judge of the universe, the High Priest caring for His churches and the Great Shepherd holding His under-shepherds, 1:1-20.
Christ is pictured as outside the door of the Laodicean church. Those inside are lukewarm and don’t seem to care. They need to be overcomers, sit and feast with Him, 2:1-3:22.
The rapture of the church is seen from God’s point of view. Jesus leads the way back to heaven. The church is in heaven before the seven year period of tribulation begins, 4:1-11.
Christ holds the future in His hands as He opens the scroll revealing the seal judgments. With the breaking of each seal in heaven a climactic event takes place on earth, 5:1-8:1.
The angels announce the seven trumpet judgments. The earth rocks and reels under God’s wrath and the beast’s rampage. God knows those who are His own, 8:2-11:19.
The dragon wages war on earth against Christ as king. He who tried to kill the Christ Child now seeks to destroy His throne and persecutes His people Israel, 12:1-6.
The dragon wages war in heaven against Christ as Priest. He who deceives the world and accuses the saints is now cast out of heaven by Michael, 12:7-12.
The dragon wages war on earth against Christ as Prophet. He now tries to inundate Israel in “the final solution.” But God defends Israel in the fulfillment of prophecy, 12:13-17..
The Antichrist is the fierce beast who rises out of the sea, his false prophet out of the earth. Satan, the third personage in the unholy trinity, controls both, 13:1-18.
Even during these dark days, Christ cares for His sheep. He is preparing the world for the harvest. The wheat will be gathered in, but the weeds will be destroyed, 14:1-20.
From the heavenly sanctuary appear seven angels who pour out the wine of the wrath of God in seven bowl judgments. Then God announces, “It is finished,” 15:1-16:21.
A global prostitute religion will be exalted called “Babylon the Great.” This scarlet woman, guilty of the blood of the saints, is first tolerated by the Antichrist, then destroyed by him, 17:1-18.
The Antichrist will wield worldwide political power and generate economic prosperity. But his economic global system will be destroyed suddenly and violently, 18:1-24.
Meanwhile, Jesus Christ has been preparing His Church in heaven as His bride. He will present her to those on the earth at the marriage banquet of the Lamb, 19:1-10.
Christ will descend from heaven riding a white horse. He will tread out the grapes of God’s wrath in the campaign of Armageddon. Fowls will consume their flesh and drink their blood, 19:11-21.
Satan will be bound. The holy city Jerusalem will be established in the mountain of the LORD as the capital of His kingdom. At last peace will reign on earth for a thousand years, 20:1-6.
Satan will be freed and will instigate a rebellion against God. God will judge him and destroy the universe with fire because of human and demonic evil, 20:7-10.
God will summon before Him all the unsaved of all the ages. The books will be opened to determine their punishment and unforgiven sinners will be consigned to hell forever, 20:11-14.
The destination of all who have never trusted in Christ as their Lord and Savior is the Lake of Fire, where unforgiven sinners, Satan, Antichrist and the False Prophet will be tormented forever, 20:15
But the redeemed of the LORD will spend eternity in His presence and in the Eternal City. Light and love will radiate from the presence of the LORD forever. God is good and His ways are perfect, 21:1-22:5.
Knowing all this, how shall we then live? We are to heed His words, be holy, and look for the imminent, any moment, return of the Lord. We show the rapture from man’s point of view, 22:6-21.
